Manchukuo (1932-1945) was a client state of Imperial Japan in northern China. Pu-Yi, the head of state of Manchukuo, had also been the last emperor of China. In 1934 a monarchy was proclaimed and Pu-Yi was named emperor under the regnal name Kangde.
